Edie

Edie

Edie is a little tired. He has come a very long way. From a very cold, very grey, very distant planet. A joyless planet, whose inhabitants eventually faded away one after another, for lack of laughter, smiles, hopscotch and bubble gum.

Edie, however, left, convinced that somewhere in the universe there had to be a place where rainbows had kept their colours, where lights still gave off a warm glow, where hot chocolate still tasted like hot chocolate.

And so, after a very long journey, carried along by the galactic trade winds, Edie finally landed on an enormous marshmallow-pink sphere, bursting with delicious colours.

He can hardly believe it. It is exactly as he had imagined it in his most recent dreams.

His eyes flutter with sleep. He spots a mischievous-looking plant, unlike anything he has ever seen, yet irresistibly inviting. He bounces over to it and climbs up. It gives him a little help.

And there, nestled among its soft, welcoming root-branches, he falls asleep.

He is not afraid. The lights glowing at the top of his new friend whisper to him that here, greyness has no place.
